Stuff the bus

HANNIBAL, MO — The Hannibal High School Class of 2026 is leading a major service initiative as part of the 5th Annual Pirate Pride Day of Caring. From April 29 - May 13, students are hosting a “Stuff the Bus” canned food drive to support local families and pantries throughout the summer season. The goal: collect 2,026 pounds of non-perishable food!

Donations can be dropped off at the Hannibal High School office weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Look for the school bus parked out front. Students will be loading donations directly onto the bus to symbolize the collective impact of the community’s generosity.

The project is a partnership with United Way and aligns with their Stamp Out Hunger initiative to sort and distribute food to pantries that service the Hannibal Area. Food pantries receiving donations (that will be sorted on the Day of Caring) include the Salvation Army, Harvest Outreach Ministries, Douglass Community Services and NECAC.

“This event is a great example of the heart our students have for service,” said HHS Principal Jason Noland. “It’s inspiring to see them take the lead in caring for our community.”
