💲🏴‍☠️ Our HHS juniors and seniors in Dr. Haner's finance classes are getting a real-world education in managing money, thanks to our friends from HOMEBANK! They dove into everything from the basics of bank accounts and saving tips to retirement planning and scam prevention. 🤩 We also discussed the crucial role of supporting local businesses. Keeping our dollars in the community ensures Hannibal stays vibrant and strong. 👏 Special thanks to Quincy Branch Manager Jenna Schrage and former Pirate (and finance student of Dr. Haner) Anna Maple, both of whom brought valuable insights to our students. It’s always great to see past students, like Anna, thriving and giving back! 🖤❤ #HannibalProud #OnceAPirateAlwaysAPirate

Yesterday Sean Flottman, AKA (DabsWellington), check his YouTube channel for metal artwork and student coordinator for American Welding Academy (Union, MO) came to visit HCTC Welding Tech program. He spoke to students about the shortage of welders currently and the projected shortfall in the next 4 years of nearly 400,000 welding positions to fill due to a retiring workforce. Many students were directed away from the trades programs since the early 90's and pushed towards a college education. Whether their degree paid off for them or it didn't; the one thing for sure is that it has created a huge demand for skilled craftsmen in the construction and maintenance industry. Sean explained the training program AWA provides and student job placement after training. He also spent time in the shop with our welding doing some TIG welding on stainless and aluminum welding techniques. We appreciate his time and American Welding Academy for sharing the information.
